We want you to be completely satisfied with your VoiceAbroad purchases. This Refund Policy explains how refunds work for language pack purchases.

How Purchases Work

Language packs in VoiceAbroad are sold as in-app purchases through Google Play. When you purchase a language pack, you receive:

  • Offline speech recognition for that language
  • Translation capabilities to and from all your other installed languages
  • A curated phrasebook with essential travel phrases

Once downloaded, language packs work entirely offline.

Refund Eligibility

Automatic Refund Window

Google Play provides an automatic refund window for in-app purchases. If you request a refund within 48 hours of purchase, you can typically receive an automatic refund through Google Play.

To request an automatic refund:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & history
  3. Find the VoiceAbroad purchase
  4. Tap "Refund" and follow the prompts

Refunds After 48 Hours

If more than 48 hours have passed since your purchase, refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. We will consider refunds in the following circumstances:

Technical Issues

  • The language pack fails to download after multiple attempts
  • The language pack does not function as described
  • A bug prevents you from using the purchased features

Accidental Purchases

  • Unintended purchases (e.g., by a child)
  • Duplicate purchases of the same language pack

Not Eligible for Refund

  • Change of mind after successfully using the language pack
  • Dissatisfaction with translation quality (machine translation has inherent limitations)
  • Purchasing a language you already own through a previous device
  • Device changes that require re-downloading (your purchases are tied to your Google account and can be restored)

How to Request a Refund

Within 48 Hours

Use Google Play's automatic refund system as described above.

After 48 Hours

Please include:

  • Your Google Play order number (found in your purchase confirmation email)
  • The language pack(s) you wish to refund
  • The reason for your refund request
  • Any relevant screenshots if reporting a technical issue

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 3 business days.

Refund Process

If Approved

  • Refunds are processed through Google Play
  • The refund will be credited to your original payment method
  • Processing time is typically 3-5 business days, but may take up to 10 business days depending on your payment provider
  • The language pack will be removed from your account

If Denied

We will explain the reason for the denial. You may appeal by providing additional information.

Restoring Purchases

If you've changed devices or reinstalled VoiceAbroad, you don't need to purchase language packs again. Your purchases are linked to your Google account.

To restore purchases:

  1. Ensure you're signed in to the same Google account used for the original purchase
  2. Open VoiceAbroad
  3. Go to Languages
  4. Previously purchased packs should show as available for download (not purchase)

If your purchases aren't appearing, please contact us for assistance.

Free Language Packs

VoiceAbroad includes English and French as bundled languages at no cost. These are not eligible for refunds as no payment was made.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting to our website. Your continued use of VoiceAbroad after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
