More apps!
It's not often that I go travelling, but a worry I always had was not being able to communicate properly in a different language and make a fool of myself. I do that enough at home. Of course there's your big translation apps like Google Translate, but you've got to be online to use it. You'd need to hop onto a Wi-Fi network (Will it cost me? Is it secure?), or make do with poor signal when you're out and about. You might be somewhere where there's no chance of getting a good signal, like an underground subway system. Wouldn't it be nice to have something you can rely on to communicate with somebody?
So here's VoiceAbroad - offline voice-to-text translation. But how? It's all processed on your device - the app works with machine learning tools to convert input from speech recognition into text translated into a chosen language.
There's some other wee features built in too, but I'll leave that for the app store description. Coming soon!
