Overview

DayCompress is a voice journaling app designed with privacy as a core principle. Your journal entries are processed and stored entirely on your device.

Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data.

DayCompress does not:

• Transmit your journal entries to any server
• Upload your voice recordings anywhere
• Track your usage or behavior
• Use analytics or tracking services
• Require an account or login
• Store any data outside your device

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

• Journal entries: Your transcribed text, mood ratings, and labels
• Voice recordings: Temporarily processed for transcription, then discarded
• Speech recognition model: Downloaded once for on-device transcription (~165MB)

Speech Recognition

DayCompress uses on-device speech recognition powered by sherpa-onnx with Whisper models. Your voice is:

• Processed entirely on your device
• Never sent to any external server
• Not stored after transcription completes

Third-Party Services

The app connects to the internet only once: to download the speech recognition model during initial setup. After this download, DayCompress works completely offline.

Data Export and Deletion

You have full control over your data:

• Export: Export all entries as a JSON file from Settings
• Delete: Delete individual entries, all data, or the speech recognition model from Settings
• Uninstall: Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently

Children's Privacy

DayCompress does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app processes all data locally and does not transmit any information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
